Sudbury, CA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 05/12/2015 -- On May 11, 2015 a new Kickstarter campaign will be launching to raise funds for Hasbeen Hockey Apparel based out of Sudbury, ON. The company's founder Cody Duguay has his eyes set on a $25,000 minimum target level and has very exciting and specific plans for the potential funds.

Hasbeen Hockey Apparel designs and distributes fun t-shirts, hats and other apparel for aging or "has-been" hockey players and fans. "Many of our designs are a play on old hockey sayings or poke fun at aging players that still believe they may make the NHL," explains founder, Duguay. He adds with a smile, "Our designs tend to appeal to a broad segment of hockey fans - including eye-rolling wives and the girlfriends of some players."

Founded in 2013, the Hasbeen brand has gained momentum due to the effort put in by Duguay and been funded solely by the founder and cash-flow from sales. With this Kickstarter, the 24 year old entrepreneur hopes to raise enough capital to make some much-needed improvements to his company and its infrastructure.

"We are setting the minimum funding level at $25,000," announces Duguay. "We hope to raise much more than that but this first level of funding will allow us to build a new website and pay for marketing on a larger scale than what we've been able to do to date."

That is not to say that Duguay has not already experienced a good deal of initial success just through grass-roots marketing and a whole lot of sweat equity. The Facebook page now has over 5,000 fans and the brand has been seen worn but such hockey legends as Wendel Clark and Wayne Gretzky's father, Walter.  "We are definitely heading in the right direction," states Duguay, "and with a little extra cash to invest wisely we believe we can turn this small business into a very large and profitable one within 18 months."

While the brand is interesting and Duguay's dream is compelling, it is important to point out that the entrepreneur also has a philanthropic side as well. Noting that hockey is an expensive sport and many children are not able to participate due to financial constraints, Duguay has plans to pay for at least one child's equipment and league registration fees for the upcoming season.  Interest in this initiative has been outstanding to date.

The Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to go live on May 11, 2015 and many innovative rewards will be available to participants at all donation levels. For more information visit http://www.hasbeenkickstarter.com/
